JIŘÍ PAČINEK | GLASS ARTIST
Jiří Pačinek is one of the outstanding figures in contemporary Czech glassmaking. He builds on a tradition shaped by prominent figures in Czech glassmaking, developing it through his own contemporary and internationally accessible artistic language. His work combines respect for the material, the discipline of craftsmanship and the freedom of artistic expression. He is characterised by densely moulded glass, created without the use of moulds, guided primarily by freehand technique, experience and imagination. It is precisely this method of creation that gives his works their vitality, inner tension and clearly recognisable expression.
Over the years, his work has found application in a remarkably diverse range of contexts — from sacred and ceremonial projects, through initiatives linked to the world of elite sport, to film sets. An integral part of his work is also his openness to collaboration across various disciplines. Alongside his own creative output, he engages in dialogue with designers, architects, companies and private clients, for whom he creates original works and bespoke projects.
At the same time, his work naturally extends into the fields of custom lighting, spatial installations and garden sculptures, where glass enters into a direct relationship with architecture, light and the landscape. It is precisely in these contexts that his work takes on a new dimension and scale.
JIŘÍ PAČINEK | GALLERY
Jiří Pačinek creates his works right by the glass furnace – drawing on his own imagination, without any pre-prepared sketches or moulds. His works take shape in the heat, often from several ladles of glass, which he gradually layers, joins and shapes into their final form. Even exceptionally complex objects are thus created as genuine blown glass – not by subsequently gluing individual parts together.
Each piece is a unique original and a direct reflection of the artist’s imagination, skill and mastery. This unique technique requires not only absolute concentration and physical prowess, but above all a perfect understanding of how the molten glass behaves at every moment of the process. As a result, the resulting works carry the irreplaceable energy of the moment and a fascinating depth that make them sought-after gems of modern glass art.
